Status Inquiry Services

IPAP provides authors with services shown below that can be accessed via the Internet, concerning their articles submitted to the Japanese Journal of Applied Physics.

  • to view reviewer's reports
  • to submit a revised manuscript
  • to notify the editorial office of a change/replacement/deletion of authors' names,
  • to notify the editorial office of a change of correspondence address, and other information on their paper.

Authors must input the user ID and password to log in.
The user ID and password will be notified authors beforehand via e-mail.

System Requirements

1. Basic requirements
1.1 Your computer must be online to access the web site via the Internet Web browsers,
such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator, are necessary to view pages on the web. See for more information.
1.2 The Acrobat Reader must be installed to download articles and reference materials in pdf format.
2. Settings of web browsers
2.1 SSL-enabled
All processes made via this system are handled via the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. SSL is a security standard supported by the latest versions of Netscape and Microsoft web browsers. Using an SSL-enabled browser in conjunction with our SSL servers will ensure that all information you submit will be submitted confidentially, without being altered, and only to an "authentic" recipient.
2.2 JavaScript-capable and-enabled
JavaScript is employed throughout this system, so your browser should be JavaScript-capable and-enabled (refer to your browser documentation for details on how to enable and disable JavaScript support). The system will not work unless your browser is JavaScript-capable and you have JavaScript support "turned on."
2.3 "cookies" acceptable
Your browser must also be configured to accept "cookies."
3. Login
Authors must input the user ID and password to log in which will be notified authors beforehand via e-mail.

Current Status

Current status as well as the following information regarding submitted manuscripts are available the Web-based system;

  • current status
  • submission receipt date
  • location of the manuscript
  • final decision
  • date the final decision was made
  • the date article was published on line
  • volume, issue, and page range

    Authors are required to input the user ID and password to log in the web page of their manuscript.

View Reviewers' Comment

Authors are able to view the reviewers comments on the web page after they receive an e-mail from the editor notifying that reviewer’s comments are available and providing them with information necessary for logging in the web page.

Submit Revised Manuscript

Authors are encouraged to submit revised manuscripts in electronic form via IPAP Author Inquiry Services.
1. File format of manuscripts
(1) A manuscript including text, tables and figures should be provided in a single PDF file.
(2) A manuscript should be double spaced and prepared in a single column.
(3) Fonts used in your file (text as well as figures) must be the standard font families (Times, Helvetica, Courier or Symbol).
(4) The pdf files that include 2-byte characters (e.g., Japanese, Chinese and Korean characters) are not acceptable.
2. Revised manuscript submission
(1) Choose "Submit a revised paper" in the menu on the web page.
(2) Enter your Reply in the “Reply to the reviewer's comments” field.
(3) Submit a revised manuscript, and reference material(s) if any.
(4) A revised manuscript should be prepared in a single PDF file. If authors are unable to do this, submit the manuscript via conventional postal mail.

View Authors' Revision

Authors are able to view the revised manuscripts and replies to the reviewers together with corresponding reviewers comments at the Web-based reviewing system.

Change the Type of Paper

Authors are requested to apply the form when authors wish to change the type of paper. The application will be forwarded to the editor automatically.

Paper Information

Authors are able to update

  • title of the manuscript
  • classification numbers
  • corresponding author as well as his/her address, telephone, fax and e-mail address

through the Web-based reviewing system. Authors are requested to inform the editorial office a change of address.

1. Corresponding address

In order to change the corresponding address, choose "Paper information" in the menu on the manuscript web page and correct the address.

2. Address for receiving proof sheets

If authors wish to temporarily change an address for receiving proof sheets, choose "Address change for receiving proof sheets" in the menu and enter a temporary address.
