About the Institute of Pure and Applied Physics (IPAP)
The IPAP is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1962 by the Physical Society of Japan(JPS) and the Japan Society of Applied Physics(JSAP) to publish physics-related journals and other relevant scientific and technological information. In April 2008, the IPAP was reorganized to form an internal organization of the JPS and the JSAP; it currently operates as a cooperative publication center of these two societies in the global scientific community.The key areas of the IPAP activity include the following:
- Journal production
- E-publishing
- Web-based peer-reviewing
- Subscription and licensing management
- Journal marketing and promotion
The IPAP is a member of international networks for publishers such as:
- STM, the International Association of Scientific, Technical & Medical Publishers
- ALPSP, the Association of Learned & Professional Scholarly Publishers
- CrossRef, the reference-linking network for scholarly and professional publishers
